So this company called Kid Safe Ink is making temporary tattoos for children. The innovation is that it’s a tattoo of your phone number, so if Junior gets lost, some respponsible adult can give you a ring. Seems like a cool idea, especially for vacations and whatnot. But first, a few questions and observations:
1. Is it possible to get an address from a phone number? That is, could some weirdo find out where your kid lives? Although I suppose if you were using this for vacation purposes, you would be using your cell number.
2. Might also be useful for drunken friends who disappear from time to time.
3. I see serious applications for over-protective fathers. For instance, I wonder if it would be possible to get one for a teenage girl that says, “Hey jackass, her father studies ju jitsu and drinks Wild Turkey.”

I actually do this when I'm out with O in a crowded place, but I just use a ballpoint pen and write it on her forearm near her elbow where it can't be seen with long sleeves. If she gets lost, she finds a security guard, or failing that, a mom with kids, and says "this is my mom's cell phone number. Please call her for me."
