So, we're about 8 weeks along into our first pregnancy. I know there is nothing unusual about being soon-to-be-parents, but wow! I'm not sure I can form a coherent thought or express it clearly if I could form it, so I'll just keep it simple.

About us: My wife and I both work full time and we split an every-other-weekend shift at a group home. I'm in my first year of grad school. Aaaaaand, our first kid is due in early January 2009.

Where we are: Just about in the middle of North Carolina.

What am I doing right now: Probably at one of my 2 jobs, feeling irritated.

What would I rather be doing right now: Sitting at my favorite picnic table at the park, top of the hill, having a bit of lunch, reading and writing.

Favorite Podcast right now: I can't pick one, but my favorites include SModcast, The Rachel Maddow Show, the Countdown with Keith Olberman podcast, The Bat Segundo Show, The Splendid Table, Car Talk, and Travel with Rick Steves.

Favorite Books and Authors: Alternadad by Neal Pollack (duh!), anything by Joseph Campbell, some things by Derrick Jensen (although I usually stall out about half way through.) Just read Misconceptions by Naomi Wolf and am currently reading The Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp.

Favorite TV shows: The Adventures of Brisco County Jr, Northern Exposure, Star Trek: TNG

Favorite religions: I like Daoism and Buddhism quite a bit. There are certain aspects of "Earth-based Spirituality" I find to be interesting. If I had to pick one word to use, I guess I'd have to say I'm a Unitarian, but even that's not a perfect fit. I guess I'm just difficult.
