What would good parents do? We had a birthday party for our 9-year-old girl on Saturday. She had invited every girl in the third grade (15 girls invited, 14 showed). My wife and I found out yesterday during the party that sometime last week our daughter had told one of the girls she invited that the party had been canceled. She's a really bad liar because she continued to talk to her friends and teacher about the party after uninviting this girl. The uninvited asked a still-invited girl if the party was still on, found out that it was and showed up on Saturday.
I found out about the uninvitation when I found the girl alone on the swingset and asked her if she wanted to join the others in the game they were playing. My wife and I then made sure our daughter made this girl feel welcome and included.
After the party, we waterboarded our lovely daughter and found out that some of her friends wanted her to uninvite the girl "because she wrecks every party she goes to." We decided on a course of action, but I was curious what other parents would do. Also, I was surprised this sniping began so early with these seemingly innocent girls.
