I'm sitting naked in an exam room, wrapped in a sheet of what looks & feels like pink crepe paper, listening 2 real jesus-y christmas music in the middle of July...surreal.

As some of you may know (if you caught my thread last week), I was laid off from my job of 7 years last week. I'm happy to report that I have already found gainful employment again and start my new job on Monday. I'll be working in the Art Department of a local print shop that was actually a vendor for my last employer. It pays to network!
I'm nervous and excited and it feels like the first day of school. I think this is going to be a great opportunity for me to get more graphic design experience, which is what I've really been wanting to do for the last few years. It also seems a lot more laid-back and less corporate than my last job; I get to wear jeans and t-shirts instead of skirts and heels. Best of all, it sounds like it's going to be challenging and quick-changing work. I was really starting to stagnate and get bored with the "same old, same old" day in and day out. Pushing a rock, pushing a rock, pushing a rock.
I'm really starting to think that getting laid off was a great thing for me at this point. I was talking about leaving the last place for some time and, while I would've rather had it be on my own terms, this really gave me the kick in the pants I needed to find something more fulfilling. And hey, if the new job totally sucks too, at least I got a week's vacation out of the deal!

Ugh. Everyone in my house has been sick this week. On top of cutting his first tooth (which comes with its own set of problems), the little one caught something and ended up with croup. That was terrifying. There's nothing worse than watching your child struggle to breathe at 2 o'clock in the morning.
While I was dealing with sick kid and rocking him in a bathroom full of steam in the wee hours of the night, Daddy was puking his guts out all night long and shivering in bed while covered in sweat. So, Dr. Mom had 2 sick babies to take care of.
Daddy is finally back to eating solid foods and looking more pink than green. Little one still has snot constantly running down his face (and WON'T let me suction it out for the life of him) but seems to be doing much better...
...and now I'm sick. At work. Horribly, feverishly, body-achingly, head-poundingly sick. And who's going to take care of ME?!
