On the subject of things I'd like but hard to justify.

I'd love to try an Amazon Kindle, although the $400 price tag means many other things will have to come first.

I'd love a trip to San Fraincisco to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit at MOMA. James in PDX saw it Thursday - I'm jealous!

Then you'll hate me for taking it for granted when it was here in Philly.

Things I'd like but can't justify...let's see...
- A shiny new deck
- An on-call nanny even though I'm currently SAHMing
- Routine spa visits

(I could go on, but the baby's waking up. rats....)

Paint job for the car. I've always hated the color.

And FP - SAHMing ESPECIALLY needs a oncall nanny.

Well, here's my Wii comment again. I want a Wii, but I won't buy one right now. Other things I would like but will not spend the money for, a dress form, a big cutting mat, a serger. Can you tell I've been doing a lot of sewing lately?

I want some patio furniture for the porch. But we've got bills and debts to pay off so we're going to get a pinic table from Lowes and pat ourselves on the back.

mcglory, I got a dress form for Christmas and it is my favorite thing ever! I can make my own designs without patterns now. I'm still afraid I would screw things up with a serger, but I'd really like one anyway.

Andromeda, it looks like I might get a big road trip to see it in mid August. My husband is likely going to be in San Francisco on business the week of the 20th, and we're thinking he might take part of the next week off so that the kids and I could come join him and have fun while he works, then end with a family trip of fun together.

MttM - I solved the expensive patio furniture problem by buying a table and chair set at a garage sale for our nook and then painting the old table with outdoor paints. It has held up great through our rough PDX winters, and it cleans off very easily.

The dress form sounds awesome PDX (still trying to get used to that). As it is I try everything on to fit it and stab myself with a jillion pins each and every time. Sergers are super easy. We used them all the time in the costume shop for everything.

mcglory~ i totally want a wii too! i asked my husband if it would be ok with him if any money i get for graduating next semester can go towards one. he said yes!! w00t!

PDX- cool! i hope you get to go! i'd say let's meet up, but i will be in canada then. thank goodness too, august is awful in the valley. SF is wonderful, but sactown SUCKS in august.

McG, you can make your own basic dress form with some help. You just need a T-shirt and some duct tape. Here's a link:

If you're interested, they also have suggestions for turning it into a hanging form (put wooden hangar in before stuffing) or mounting it to a stand using PVC pipe.

Oh yeah, on-topic:

When I have an extra few bucks (never happens) I'm indulging in a lawn mower, painting the bathroom, and joining Soda Club.

Sweet CJRW! Thank you! And as a bonus, the spouse will so love covering me in duct tape. What the heck is a Soda Club though?

Soda Club is the best thing ever: http://tinyurl.com/6fruex

I can go through an entire 12-pack of sparkling water in about two days. If I had one of these, it would pay for itself in no time!

Great, I have the Monkees playing in my head now....

Andromeda, Dooce is giving away a wii and a wii fit. The odds of winning are almost none, but we went ahead and gave it a go away. You just have to comment on her entry about it today.
