Have you been forced to teach similar lessons?

We've discussed this after it appeared Mo had broken one of his friends toys.

There was one time at this huge mall when baby Max shoplifted a toy from the Disney Store (don't ask). And we were halfway through the mall before we found out. So we walked back to the store, explaining why taking something without paying was wrong to Mo.

"But what would you DO without all your anxiety?" will be my thought for the day, and perhaps the rest of the week.

Ommm.

Younger Son was quite the little shoplifter back in the day (as in, when he was 3-ish). The Wal-Mart greeters got to know us, what with all the dragging him back in and making him give back whatever it was and apologizing. It eventually stuck. I think he hadn't quite learned the boundaries yet -- he saw things within his reach and didn't quite "get" that it wasn't just like at home where he could reach out and grab. We literally would pat him down as we left stores. But, it eventually sunk in and we have much less eventful shopping trips these days.
