Maybe conventional wisdom doesn't call it food, but that ain't stoppin' the toddler. What non-food items has your child eaten?

The Button is into soap these days. She licks her bubble-blowing wand, and ate suds from her buble bath tonight.

Oh, and then there was the rock phase. For a little while there, my baby got all her minerals.

Roly-polies. She'd chew them up and then bits of them would be all over her chin when she'd laugh and drool. Nasty.

Crayons.

We had to stop coloring for a while.

E would drink gallons of bathwater if I let her. She sampled quite the variety of dirt and rocks while camping this weekend, too.

Crayons have been good eats around our house.

And of course, I can't wash away the memory of Boy #3 eating his own poop! Eww!

Both my kids drink pool water. (shudder)

Sand, at about eight months. And that was the last of it. Since then, very little has crossed his lips that's not peanut butter or animal crackers. *Anything* he has the *slightest* issue with in any way -- texture, gagging, color -- is nixed forever. Of course, there's never any issue with sugary snacks.

Oh yeah--Lunchables. Can't imagine what she was thinking.

bath water, especially with bubbles in. she sucks it through the face washer. (er... u.s. washcloth? flannel?)

also tries to eat catfood daily. the biscuit kind. in choke-hazard size.

to get her to behave herself in public places, sometimes i giver her my keys, because she loves to suck them. it's so bizarre, but i can't help being secretly grateful. i keep intending to get a set of brand new blanks in different colours, that she can keep. so i don't have to take them off her to get in the car. (we do most of our crying in carparks.)

Little B ate carpet lint. I just could not understand that one at all. I was vacuuming constantly when he was little, but he would find tiny pieces of carpet lint and the next thing I knew, he was shoving it in his mouth.

The Little Miss enjoyed eating crayons as well. She is now banned from crayons as she will still occasionally take a bite out of one.

crayons, sand, nickels (barfed up 2 minutes later, thank god) bath water... a friend ate a whole pack of red lite-brite pegs as a child.

wookie - I've got to ask: are the red ones better than the others?

Pie 2 decided to eat toothpaste this morning - quite a bit it would seem.

crayons, sand and licks of plyadoh - must say I LOVE the smell of playdoh.

Love the smell of playdoh. Every time we open a new can, I have to sniff it.

What is it about the playdoh smell? I love it too.

Oh, I'm so grateful that Girlie Grey never put stuff in her mouth. Good baby.

We'll what Baby Grey does...

Roly-polies? Yuck! That's disgusting.

TMI time. I've a little miffed at The Surfer today so whatevs...

Before dinner every night is painting, playdoh, coloring time for El D (it's one way to get him at the table for a meal)... the other night I come outta the kitchen and El D and his father both have made 'playdoh masks' and are sniffing them.

I said - very nice honey teaching our son at year and half the fine art of being a huffer. Nice.

Oh, GG. I've caught DW and GW with pencil-like rolls of Play-Doh hanging out of their noses. Recently.

GirlWho had bright purple poop in her diaper one day, and bright blue the next. She had been eating the Play-Doh at daycare. They had wondered where it was going.

The bubble thing never ceases to amaze me. I would guess that almost all adults find the taste of soap repulsive, and yet I have never EVER met a toddler who thought bubbles and soap tasted bad. WTF?

My daughter is not into eating non-food objects, that is if you consider butter BY ITSELF a food. She eats it as a stick, on her fingers and or with a spoon. Gross.

hotmama, Max does that too! We had to put a lock on the fridge do because he would eat whole sticks of butter and marge leaving the rest somewhere in the house for us to find.
Max'll eat flour all day if you let him. It thoroughly disgusts me.

Butter-flavored soap! Kids would always be clean. I could make millions!

MW - make it smell like playdoh and you'll have a customer for life
