I know it's only Wednesday, but what's your "Oh Shit!" for the week?
Replies
That sucks.
My "Oh Shit!" is that I have 6 days to find a place to live and to dispose of several rooms worth of extra furniture and appliances. I'm hoping to have the mother of all garage sales on Saturday.
I called Girl6's school yesterday to let them know that I would be submitting the re-enrollment forms by next week and just wanted to check that I wasn't missing anything. They informed me that the deadline for re-enrollment was last Friday and since I hadn't turned in the packet, they assumed she wasn't returning.
It turns out DaddyMartini and I were both under the assumption that the other had sent a check for registration, but neither of us had. I figured since the fee was paid, it was ok to lag a little on the paperwork. WRONG!
Now, I made this phone call an hour before the school office closed, so I ended up rushing around like a crazy (ok, crazier) woman to fill out the seemingly 5,000 page packet and drive for 20 minutes to turn it all in. Then when I got there I learned I'd have to pay a late fee, so instead of $200, I ended up paying $350.
I guess that's what I get for procrastinating.
Lady Grey~ When I read 'front loader' I pictured the construction kind, not the washing machine.
MNM that sucks!
Finding out the director of the symphony across the street is pleading guilty to corruption charges in a different city today.
Sets our whole city renaissance back a peg or two....sigh.
I just got a phone call from the school that just hired me telling me that I hadn't paid tuition yet. Whoops.
Ran into a friend last night that I hadn't seen in awhile. She has 3 kids. Her last one was born a few months before El Destructo. She looked BANGING! My husband and I got in the car and both looked at each and said DDAAAAMMMMNNN she looked good. My oh shit moment went as follows... I am a load and need to lose weight.
I too thought it was cool Lady Grey had a front Loader as in earth moving equipment.
My Oh $hit for the week, is that today Daphne is 11 months old. I almost have a one year old. Where did the last 11 months go?
I know it's not a contest but I think Mamawho wins. Having to find a place to live in another city in 6 days defines "oh shit."
no, that's an "oh, fuck!"
I need to pack up my office for a move by 4pm tomorrow. Jam packed with meetings until then. I have a lot of toys to put in boxes.
Not as bad as some of the ones above...but hey, I can only write what I have to work with.
I'm flooded with work, and my afternoon nanny is moving in a few weeks, which leaves me a few weeks to find an amazing Mary Poppins type person to watch my kid while I write.
I have three weeks to finish all of the revisions on my dissertation draft.
Not as bad as some of the above, but still incredibly stressful.
I haven't been hired yet and we may have to live with my parents for another year if I don't find something soon.
I promised The Boy I'd take him to see Doodlebops live at the state fair...
Oh, floor pie. Are you gunning for a medal or martyrhood? Either would be appropriate for enduring the Doodlebops live.
I am supposed to be at dinner with old friends in an hour (about a 20 minute drive) I'm sweaty, not dressed, and haven't put the sushi rolls together yet because I'm still waiting for the rice to finish cooking.
Oh yay! It just beeped at me! Still...yikes!
A/C starts leaking water. Cost unknown. We have a home warranty, but it's still a point of nervousness.
we just paid the airfare for DaD's Taiwan training, still got cough up training fees, accommodation, food etc, transfers etc etc, gotta finish paying for my gold tooth, just when it was looking like we'd come through with flying colours, the rates notice showed up and DaD's trip this morning to the orthopedic surgeon confirmed he needs an arthroscopy, in a little less than a fortnight... it's mostly going to be covered by our insurance, but we gotta cough up the excess. Boo. Hiss.
the other crappy thing about this is that I'll have to drive him to work for a few weeks. I may even have to teach the tai chi classes - at very least, i will have to be there, for if he isn't doing so good, or needs a demonstrator. it's not the being there that worries me, it's the getting there that's hard. and the getting up and out the door to keep him on time... not to mention collecting him - i'm lousy at watching the clock.
Oh FloorPie...I'm SO SORRY! That's about the worst news I've heard all day.
LadyGrey, I heard recently (from the guy installing the new dishwasher) that those big appliances (dishwasher, washer, dryer) are lasting less and less long. Ten years ago, they usually lasted about ten years. Now, it's more like five or six. They're more energy efficient while they last, but I'm not sure that makes up for it.
well if that's not the crap kind of irony.
Floorpie wins. (sorry Mommawho I'd rather move across the planet than sit through that shit - live no less)
Baby stayed awake for two days, now is sleeping and sleeping and sleeping.
Is he sick? Weird? He's my 3rd, should I know by now what is normal?

My front-loader has been making sick sounds lately, knocking and squealing, etc. Had the repairman out yesterday.
$870 to fix it.
So, we're getting a new washer, since we're paying less than $100 more than that for a nice Maytag front loader. But, oh shit. Why couldn't this wait until I go back to work and actually have an income?
The moral of the story is--IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO USE THE High Efficiency DETERGENT WITH H.E. WASHERS. Not doing so ruined ours after just 6 years.
