Have you seen the new pair of commercials Wal-mart has put out for the back to school shopping?

First: middle school parent of a boy gets him "everything he needs" by buying him a computer

Second: middles school parent of a girl gets her ready for "everything she needs" by buying her clothes.

This makes me crazy!

Sigh. And people wonder why there aren't enough women in STEM majors.

I haven't paid attention to the commercials but that does, indeed, suck.

Well, that middle school boy is going to need his computer to hide behind when he goes to the first day of school naked!

We call Wal-Mart the devil's store. I get sucked in on occassion and always feel dirty afterwards. And broke.

In general I don't lose a lot of sleep over the Wal-mart thing. I know they have had important labor issues and I have only been in once in the last year to grab some milk...it was overwhelming.

Having said that...I live in a place where I have easy access to 6 different grocery stores and lots of the K-mart, Target, BJ, Sam's Club type stores but I know in some areas they are the only game in town for folks on a tight budget so I'm not throwing stones.

until now - stupid commercial just came on again!

Oh, we feel totally filthy because Mr Ellie works for Wal-Mart, but we also like living indoors in some place other than our car.

And wal-mart is EEEEEEEEEEEEE-VIL. You should see their health benefits package. I sat there and stared at it for probably two hours trying to figure out A) What the hell they were trying to tell me and B)How we were supposed to afford health care that didn't have a ultra-high deductible. I really can't see Joe SmallTown being able to understand the health plan, because I've at least had some college and I'm not particularly stupid and I didn't understand it.

Oh, crap, I hadn't seen that commercial. Bullshit. To think, I was annoyed by the one that shows a mom buying her daughter a new shirt because the kid spilled juice on herself while they were shopping.

It if makes you guys feel any better, we were supposed to get a new Walmart down the road by spring of this year, and as of last week, they still haven't progressed past the parking lot that they installed over a year ago. Apparently, the project has been delayed. Wish they coulda waited to cut all the trees down until they were actually ready to build something.

Wow. That's just vile. When I worked for Wal-Mart - 14 years ago- it was a different company from what it is today. Unfortunately, it's been my only choice for decent groceries where I live. I could drive to the next town over, and I do sometimes, but only if I need to be there for another reason.
