girlie question... hair stuff...

Uh... shave? j/k! I just keep picturing Chewy with little pink barrettes!
Sorry... I have nothing useful to add...
I have super thick curly hair and I don't bother with barettes. I use those claw thingies. I've found they work much better.
MNM pointed me to the Flexi-8 barette things, they work great for me, with my unmanageable mass of thick wavy wiry frizzy wispy mop. If you feel like trying something different.
BoL - I'm glad the Flexi-8's work for you! I love those things.
Raiding my bookmarks folder for ideas I have these sites:
www.ficcare.com
http://www.flexi8.com/index.html
www.scunci.com
I've got thick curly hair and I've given up on barrettes. I use headbands the half circle kind and the circular elastic kind work great.
I'm with you MttM. My curly ass thick hair wants nothing to do with barrettes.
Ditto the "grabbers" over barrettes for thick hair.
I think being able to find stuff that works depends on the actual thickness of your hair. Most stuff in the drugstore is not made for hair that is very thick - for instance, my ponytail circumference is 4 1/2" so I mostly order things that are made more for thick hair. The links I posted all have products that work better for hair of this volume.
I have really thick curly hair and if I put a barrette in it I doubt I'd ever see it again. I use those claw things too, but I'm too cheap to spend much on anything that might work better.
Story of my flippin' life. Ugh. If anyone wants some of this hair, it's all yours.
So what you want to look for are the Scunci brand of barrettes with "No-Slip Grip." These are lifesavers. Especially the snap clips. Check CVS or Target.

has anyone found small barrettes that work with super thick hair? the plastic ones (goody?) dont hold much hair and the metal snap ones fall straight out.
ideas?
