So I went to our local birth center to drop off some business cards. The midwife that runs the birth center asked if I could wait a minute till she was done with her patient she had something to ask me. I said sure. When she was done, she asked if I was interested in being their back up doula! Of course I jumped at the opportunity. I love the birth center, we had our two youngest there Woohoo! I totally flattered and excited. I wanna do a happy dance.

I really love what I do. I feel like good about the service I provide for the moms who hire me. Most of the couples that hire me plan on having hospital births. Thats fine, those are the couples that I feel need the most support to attain the births they really want. I have been feeling really frustrated with the predictability of the hospital script for labor and delivery. I have had the opportunity to be a doula for two moms at the birth center this year. I loved it. I feel like the birth center is a wonderful, safe place that women who have a low risk pregnancy can give birth to their babies with minimal interference and unnecessary interventions. The staff at the birth center treat women with honesty and respect. I truly know I can trust the midwife. Thats really big for me. I'm totally stoked!

JM and Sabine- I do feel like it is a great compliment by someone I really admire. I had a really traumatic birth experience with my first son, with the second birth at this birth center I was able to have a truly beautiful, spiritual birth experience. I feel like this woman helped me achieve that and set me onto the path of being a doula and hopefully a midwife too someday. I am really excited to be working with her and learning from her.
