Know what? 4 teeth + tender nipple = mucho pain.

Ouch! My boys both weaned themselves before they could do much damage. Max had one tooth on the bottom and that was just weird.

Time to break out the lanolin again. Those new teeth are sharp little buggers.....

The nibbling started about as soon as the teeth came it. It was for fun at first, I think. I would tap his no and say "no", and it seemed to help. Sometimes.

When Older Son was ready to wean at about a year (and I wasn't picking up the cues because I wasn't ready to give it up) he started letting me know how bored he was by biting. I ended up missing his first Christmas because I got a flaming case of mastitis. I don't think was ever so sick.

We weaned.

You'd think by now I'd have learned that when she's screaming in pain and rubbing her mouth, that is NOT the time to shove in a boob to calm her down (stupid Mommy instinct). Just let her nip at the bottle, and save the girls for a calmer time.

I think Girl Grey only bit me once with her first new tooth. She learned never to do it again after I yelled out in pain and instinctively tapped her on the face and yelled, "NOOOOO!!" Scared the crap out of her and made her cry, but it was never again an issue. Amazing.

Baby Grey has no teeth, but he has a strong bite, nonetheless. The worst part is that he likes to clamp down and then rip his face away in the opposite direction. Tapping his face and yelling no has made him cry, but he still does it. I'm dreading him getting teeth!

We went through a biting phase. Especially when he was overtired. It was no fun. Basically I just pinched his nose close when he slowed down nursing and cut him off so he didn't have time to get bored and bite. If he bit me that was the end of a nursing session. He knocked it off after a little while and never bit me again, even when he was teething with molars and was biting everything.
