I'm sorry for Ms. Lyon, but I am so glad that they were able to be married before Ms. Martin passed. I am guessing that Ms. Lyon will continue her efforts as she deals with estate issues now.

So, here's my question: do you think California will overturn this ruling in November? If not, do you think other states will begin to follow in the path of Mass and CA?

i'm so glad she died married. i was at city hall during their wedding, cheering them on with a couple of gay bands playing wedding songs, as well as a bunch of wingnut protesters who apparently thought they could scare a couple of old ladies who have been together since the time when police raided lesbian bars to make sure you had enough ladies' clothes on.

as for what i think about the ballot initiative, i actually wrote a fair amount about it recently:

I was sad to spot this headline earlier today...but I too am glad they at least got to have their relationship recognized. What brave women.

And I can only hope that other states will follow this path. Enough with the nonsense.

Kom, I like your blog. I've read it a couple of times in the past, and just caught up on some more. Damn job keeps cutting into my surfing time.

I really believe you are right and that sooner or later, all this bigoted nonsense will be banished to the history books. I just hope it's sooner and not later.

thanks, MM! i don't have a site counter or anything up, so i never know if anybody reads the damn thing or not.

i hope it's sooner and not later, too- i really don't get, at all, what people's damage is with gay marriage (or gay rights generally). most of the anti arguments are so condescending, about how we need to not "condone the lifestyle" or whatever- like employment, marriage, etc rights are a privilege earned by morality instead of a human right.
