School started yesterday. I enjoyed watching all the freshmen in their "first day of school" outfits milling about campus with maps. They had such energy! Then I saw a dude being led around campus by his mother, and even though I am generally loathe to criticize overprotective parents, I wanted to yell, CUT THE CORD WOMAN!
Yeah McG that sounds like Over Over Protective to me.
Sailor starts evening classes on Mo's first day of school so I'm going to sleep in while he takes him to school. Or I'll go too and then get a good nap in the afternoon.
You do math good. :) I will unpack GirlWho's toys during her first day of school. I have a feeling that some of them may have been lost in the move. . .
You guys suck. I've had students for two weeks now, and was in school a week and a half before.
Actually, upon reflection, I guess it's my district that sucks, not you guys. I retract my earlier assertion regarding your collective suction.
I went to a "meet and greet" last night at my daugther's new school. The school is only two years old, and it's a nice building. My daughter came with and played with other kids out on the playground. She's already made an impression on the principal, to whom she apparently addressed several pointed questions out on the playground. (Gulp!)
She starts first grade next Tuesday. I'll be at work. Her mother will be at home, probably crying.
N started Tuesday, but it was only a half day and I had errands in the morning so I didn't get my day off. And then yesterday I also had to work (class, office hours, tons of prep work, and then class again in the evening), so no go there either.
Today the kids are at school and daycare and I probably won't start subbing until next week at the earliest, but Mr. S won't leave. He's got one of those cushy jobs where so long as the work gets done and he answers his cell, he can trail in a few hours late and take long lunches. So he slept in this morning, installed some stuff on my computer so that I could work, and is now sitting on the couch in his underwear watching CNN and eating. He'll probably leave in an hour or so, but I have so much crap to do that I don't think the two and a half hours this afternoon count.
Tomorrow, however, everyone is getting kicked out when N goes to school and I'm having an entire day of quiet.
School started Monday for me, and I've got one going half a day for pre-k. YAY!!! JOY!
I don't even want to think about college. I'm sure that when my kids leave for school, I'm just going to sit in the car and sob pathetically as they walk off to their dorm rooms. Or I'll go out and get wasted and dance on tables. One or the other.
School starts Tuesday at 8:30 and I'll be at the Obama Headquarters for a meeting at 11. Come November 5th (my daughter's 10th birthday) I'll have time to think about it more.
My oldest is now inventing a new language, and telling me what all the different letters are called. She claims it is Chinese.
I guess it beats the last 10 days of "how do you say X in french?"
Dear grade one teacher... have fun with this one!
Mine just started his pre-K on 8/4. He loves everything but the drop offs and seems to be rockin his way through the day whenever we spy on him (observation rooms rule!).
Oops. I skipped the question. A friend of our suggested that we (my husband and I) go out to breakfast every year on the first day of school. So, we dropped the kid off, waited for him to stop crying, then went out for crepes and mimosas. It was rad.
What the hell. I have been in school all week. I have had students for 3 days. I really need to work in a district with a later start date.
Since the ministry of education has bailed on us with next to no notice it appears that I will be teaching grade nine on Tuesday morning without the benefit of curriculum.
My district started yesterday, and so far so good. No major disasters. I did have to deal with a last minute meeting of angry parents the night before, but I think I came out of that relatively unscathed. Phew.
i started back at school last monday and i am already beat! no rest for the wicked. i just keep telling myself that it is my last semester. maybe that will help..... nope. i'm still burnt the F--K out!
