Swimming Pool Baby Survival
Replies
yeah, i had the same reaction- holy shit get that kid out of the water! if the video creators had any sense of humor, they'd have used the jaws theme as the baby toddled over to the edge.
ok i tried this method with El Destructo when he was 8-10 months old. It was dreadful. And now I have to start the older lessons with him. Oh and expensive as shit.
But it does work.
I was looking at the costs at my local school $90 per week. That is steep.
We're putting both kids into YMCA swim next summer.
Wow. I was itching to grab that baby. But watching him turn himself over was awesome.
I wanted to run over and save the baby, too. If it works like it looks like it does without making the baby completely scared of water (e.g., dumping the poor kid in over and over in a "sink or swim") then anyone who has a home pool should consider looking into it.
I've seen this before, so I know what you're talking about. I can't bear to watch it again. I had the same reaction as all of you but additionally, I cried when I watched it. I was pregnant then. Just thinking about it invokes some sort of PTSD in me. It's pretty amazing.
I don't remember it of course but my parents put me in a similar class when I was a year old and I've been swimming ever since. My grandmother had a photographer take some underwater shots of me swimming, very Nirvana baby.
GG you should introduce snorkeling! My dad pull my sister along in a baby inner tube and she'd hold her mask to her face and look over the side. I'd ride along on my dad's back until I was 5 and got my own flippers.

Check out this link. It is absolutely amazing. If you have a backyard pool and a baby you want them to be able to do this. Even though I knew that it was all choreographed and all and the baby was going to be fine, I still couldn't stop my mothering instinct from driving me nuts while I watched the baby float, sure that any minute it was going to go under.
