Mama to tha Max posted an essay:

Sailor's holding pattern

It looks like Sailor might have to stay another week in Sicily.  He doesn't know what the hold up is but at this point his ship will come home before he does!

The whole thing is making things around here tight financially.  He has to pay his way in Italy but once he makes it to Bahrain he'll be set up in barracks.  Arg!  It's not a lot per night but it's starting to add up.  We'll be reimbursed for the whole thing of course but when that'll be we don't know.

I just wish they could have kept him home another week instead of this crapfest.  The sucky thing is he's not been off base since he got there.  He'd like to go into town and sample the culture but something always comes up to cancel that.

I just look forward to better pay once he does get out there.

On the 12th the boys and I will be driving out to Illinois.  This time I'm drugging Max up on Benedryl when we go through the mountains.  Last time the altitude made his ears hurt and messed his ears up for the whole trip.  The benedryl  should help with drainage.  Not to metion make him drowsy.

When we get back I'm looking for a job in admin.  I was going to apply for grad school but I'm going to wait.  If I worked for a year or two we can get a house and get settled before I start this.  Plus Max'll be in pre-k.  I'm sort of bummed about it but I'd rather get to work and take my time on my portfolio.  If I'm in grad school before I hit 30 I'll be happy.

I hope Sailor gets settled soon. It's crazy that he has to foot the bill for this, even if you will eventually get reimbursed.

I don't envy you the drive with the boys but I'm sure it will be worth it. Yay for Benadryl. As for grad school, I FINISHED at 40 so starting at 30 is nothin'! You definitely have to do it when the time is right.

Yeah I'm not sweating grad school. My dad finished his MA when I was 11 and he was 33. My mom graduated with hers when I finished my freshman year of college.

I was 35 when I started Grad school, I am glad I waited, I needed to mature a bit.
