Working (temporarily)

So I've officially accepted the offer to cover two back to back maternity leaves for my old band program from Jan-Mar. I spoke with Big O's old daycare provider, and she's going to call in help for those three months so she can watch Ebay with her other kids. She's OK with the fact that Ebay still won't nap in her crib during the day for me at home, but she thinks she can get Ebay to do it at her house. I'm just waiting on the compensation details. I'm going to be driving a pretty fair distance so they offered me milage and gas on top of normal pay. This means we can sock away a couple thousand dollars into savings over those three months. Hubby's paycheck covers the monthly bills, his commission pay coming in Jan will cover the next 4-5 months' worth of COBRA payments, so mine is all extra. That means we can breathe easier when I return to being a SAHM after March. They'd told me that should a position opend up for the next academic year that they'll call me, so I'm crossing my fingers for that. Hubby's got some pretty big commissions getting lined up for late next year and the year after that, so he's on the road to *actually earning a living as a composer*, which is very tough to do. Do you ever gt the feeling that your life is a train getting started, and you just have to make it to the next "chug"?

I hate it when I forget the paragraph breaks, but I'm too tired to go back and fix them now.

I'm so glad to hear it. I know the daycare situation is nerve-wracking but it sounds like you've got it under control. And you sound relieved about the finances, too. I'm glad for you guys!

Yay, I am very glad to hear about all of this working out. Mega congrats to your husband! It is difficult making a living as a composer. You will have to share some of his music with us at some point.

Money in the bank is always a big relief. It just allows you to breathe a little easier.

I hope things continue to go well!

Congrats. That sounds like a lot of details to have fallen into place, so that is fabulous!

As a former student, can I also add how nice it is to have a substitute teacher who knows the subject? I remember how thrilled my chemistry teacher was in HS to find a science teacher to fill in for her leave. And how excited we were not to have to teach ourselves or fall behind!

Congratulations HBD! That must be such a relief to have things working out. Now if we can just spread the joy around a bit to some other OSers...

Yes please. Not to steal HBD's thunder, but we should hopefully, hopefully hear about a job for Alan today. ***everybody's fingers crossed please!***
